Apply caulk to the back of the strip and stick it to each stud. Press it down until it’s flush with the wall surface. You can leave the wallboard off, but it’s best to put it back in place. Caulk along the seam to seal out air drafts and then reinstall the baseboard.
If the ends of the wires are too far apart, the nut won’t go on properly. Be sure the ends match up before twisting them together. If necessary, snip off a bit at the tip to get them even before attaching the connector.
The uninterrupted path of electricity. A wire from one end to another has continuity, install a switch between the two end and turn it off to break the path and interrupt the continuity.
Leave the wires bent into hooks if you will be using the terminal screws to connect the new device. If you will be using the holes in the back, cut the wires right below the hook so you will have a straight piece to insert into the holes. Strip about ½inch of insulation off the copper to make the connection.
A long copper bar inside a service panel or breaker box. All neutral and ground wires are attached to a ground bus bar to complete the electrical path. In some cases a service panel may have separate bus bars for neutral and ground.
After choosing the electrical source, decide where to cut the walls and ceilings to run the new cable. For example, to run from an existing wall receptacle up to a new ceiling light fixture, a small hole should be cut in the corner where the wall and ceiling meet. The top plate is then notched to pass the cable and afterwards a metal plate is attached over the notch to protect the wires.
A current-carrying wire in an electrical circuit. There may be one or two hot wires in a household electrical circuit. These wires are always insulated and may be colored black or red, or in the case of some ceiling fans, the hot wire may also be colored blue.
Hold the wires together so the ends match up and twist them together in a clockwise direction using lineman pliers. Make 1 or 2 turns to form a solid union being careful not to dig into the copper with the plier jaws.
